Health and natural medicine is certainly my calling.  I have always felt if I was not in
health care, I would have selected special education for my occupation.  The Special
Olympics is a very important organization to me and to the thousands of athletes who
benefit from all the work they do because of your donations.

Have you ever been to a Special Olympics event?  You will see PURE JOY radiating
from the faces of the athletes.  My wife, three children and I went to the opening
ceremonies at the Summer Olympics.   The athletes all come in by county.  Some
athletes appear fully physically functional, some need assistance just to hold their
heads.  But for all athletes, the only word to describe their entrance is... PRIDE.  This
was their Olympics and they were proud to represent their county and proud to be
part of the Special Olympics.

Over the years, we have gone to support the athletes in the games.  What you
witness is wonderful.  Athletes of all abilities and skill levels come together in a spirit
of camaraderie, competition, support, and fun.  You see new friendships being made
and old friendships being renewed.  You see months and years of training coming to
a head.  You see hugs, smiles, and high-fives as the athletes do their best.  Above
all, you feel a sense of belonging and gratitude from the athletes as they have the
opportunity to participate in games appropriate for their abilities.

The Center: Natural Health Specialists & The Chiropractic Cafe are working together
to support the Special Olympics.  Our team
"Crack-A-Pin" needs your help (get
it???...chiropractic and acupuncture?  See... we really need your help!).

Please join us in supporting this wonderful cause!  On Saturday, October 17, We will
be Bowling for the Gold, rolling for strikes and spares (probably getting gutter balls)
at The Alley on Hillsborough St. in Raleigh in support of opportunities for children and
adults with intellectual disabilities.  The enthusiasm, courage, and joy shared by
Special Olympics athletes is inspiring, and we are proud to ask you to join our
campaign on the lanes to help make year-round sports training and competition
programs possible for these special people.

Special Olympics North Carolina currently serves more than 38,000 athletes in 20
different sports.  Your support will provide the uniforms, medals and ribbons,
coaches’ education, training facilities and transportation that make Special Olympics
programs possible and will allow people with special needs to reach new heights in
sports and in life.

We need you!  Please support our efforts to knock down pins as together we build
life-changing opportunities and experiences for Special Olympics athletes in NC.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Dr. Quinn Akira Takei
