Biography:

Hello! My name is Sinéad (pronounced “Sha-nade”) and I am a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, NCCAOM Board Certified Herbalist, Qigong/TaiChi Teacher, Hatha & Kundalini Yoga Instructor, and a dancer. I completed my doctorate at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, CA, and received a BA in Preventative Medicine from UNC-Chapel Hill.

My passion for medicine stemmed from a deep love of intensity. As a former gymnast, college track athlete, and a practitioner of WuShu (a martial art form), I have always been interested in exploring the boundaries of what the human body is capable of. As a former physics major, I am equally as curious to investigate the potential of the mind, as well as people’s ability to create self-empowering habits & mentalities. My interest in alternative medicine grew out of an intense achiever-mindset in both body and mind. Upon taking an introductory Chinese Medicine course during an undergraduate trip to China, combined with beginning a regular yoga and qigong (“energy cultivation”) practice at this time, I began to see that “healthy” is not a strict regimen, but rather a dynamic, ever-changing art of listening to internal signals and external feedback.

The systematic combination of modern research and ancient medicinal wisdoms provide me with incredible tools for both physical and mental/emotional health that I passionately apply in my own life to find balance while striving towards my personal creative pursuits. I also like to incorporate yogic and meditative routines for patients who are open to learning. I have been teaching yoga since 2009 and have studied yoga in India, Hong Kong, Europe, San Francisco, and North Carolina, and is certified in three different styles (Hatha, Kundalini, and Restorative/Yin). I have been practicing qigong (pronounced “chee gong”) since 2010 and teaching since 2016. My teachers include Master Mantak Chia, Minke DeVos, Michael Winn, Dr. LiPing Zhu, ShiFu Zhang Mei, and Robert Peng.

As a Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine, my goal is to not only help patients heal from various physical and mental/emotional challenges with tools such as acupuncture, herbs, and therapeutic movements,  but also to help them create a balanced, sustainable lifestyle that allows them to become the greatest version of themselves - in all dimensions! I strive to help people reconnect to their inner creativity and fullest form of self-expression & self-empowerment.
